This is the stark reality as it pertains to the present and the future of shopping malls as we know them today. The following is a synopsis from Michael Gorman from Goman&York Property Advisors located in East Hartford, which appeared in the Hartford Courant. Thirty years ago, shoppers would make three to four trips a month to their favorite malls spending as much as 12 hours per month.

Fast forward to 2024, and mall shopping fans are now spending less than THREE hours per month at their favorite malls, and we know why: shopping online. I've written several articles for I-95 about malls across the State of Connecticut, and this article is about three malls that are struggling and three that are thriving, along with the reasons why. Those six shopping malls are Danbury Fair, the Crystal Mall in Waterford, Westfarms Mall in West Hartford/Farmington, Meriden Mall, The SoNo Collection in Norwalk, and the Enfield Square Mall.
