Massive Recall of Connecticut's Most Common Vehicle Announced

Connecticut, and New England overall, is Subaru territory. Get onto any highway, backroad, or drive into any parking lot and you will soon be surrounded by Foresters, WRX, Outback, Legacy, and Impreza. If you own a Subaru Legacy or Outback, a massive recall has just been announced for your vehicle.

Subaru of America has just announced a safety recall that may affect almost 119,000 2020-2022 Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback owners due to a potential problem with your vehicles air bags, they might not deploy. According to the report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a capacitor in the sensors for the Occupant Detection System may crack and short circuit, which can prevent the front passenger air bag from deploying during a crash. Interim letters informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed out by the end of May 2024, and owners will receive a secondary piece of mail informing them once the fix is available.

What is going to happen? After bringing your recalled Subaru into your local Connecticut Subaru dealers, Service will replace the ODS sensors on your front passenger seat, free of charge. Again, this affects only Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback vehicles that were built in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
