It appears as though local first responders had quite the Sunday afternoon (March 1) this past weekend, as two separate crashes resulted in injuries.

According to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, the first incident occurred around 1:13 PM when firefighters and EMS responded to a single car rollover crash at North Mountain Road and Laurel Hill Road, in which the driver was trapped inside the vehicle.

Police on the scene reported that the injuries suffered were minor, but the doors to the vehicle would simply not open. Eventually, first responders were able to gain access to the passenger side of the rolled over vehicle, removing the driver who was then transported to Danbury Hospital for further evaluation.

The second crash was reported just before 6:00 PM on Sunday, during which a vehicle struck a building on Federal Road in the area of Elbow Hill Road. In this instance, first responders say that the driver was able to be removed from the vehicle before both EMS and firefighters arrived, and the patient was then also taken to Danbury Hospital.

As of this writing, no further information has been made available regarding the medical condition of the drivers or what exactly may have caused the car crashes. Thankfully, however, it appears as though everyone will be okay.

This is a developing story and we'll be sure to keep you updated as more information rolls in.
