Law Enforcement Officers from all over the State of Connecticut will be taking to the streets this week carrying the 'Flame of Hope' in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the  Special Olympics Connecticut.

It all starts Wednesday, and continues through Friday in towns all over the state. The run will involve over 1,500 officers and athletes and cover over 530 miles in just three days.

The final leg of the run will take place this Friday (June 8) starting in New Milford. The Olympic Torch will make its way down Route 7 through Brookfield and will continue into Newtown, Southbury, Oxford, and Beacon Falls, before making its way to Bethany. There, the run converges with other Friday runs, and the Olympic "Flame of Hope" makes its way to New Haven and Southern Connecticut State University for the opening ceremonies of the games.

The 50th annual Special Olympics Connecticut will be going on all weekend, and will feature over 2,500 Athletes and Unified Teammates, 500 Coaches and 2,900 Volunteers.
