State Police Seek Connecticut Man After Troopers + FBI Seize 17 Guns
UPDATE: Connecticut State Police have announced that they were able to locate Michael Gramegna on Friday afternoon (February 21) and he has been taken into custody.
Police are looking to the public in hopes of locating a Connecticut man who is wanted after the execution of a search warrant turned up a very large amount of firearms and ammunition.
According to the Connecticut State Police, Troopers from CT Troop K, along with the Bolton Resident Trooper's Office, the Eastern District Major Crime Unit, the Emergency Services Unit and Special Agents from the FBI served a search and seizure warrant just before 9:00 AM on Thursday (February 20) at the home of 42-year-old Bolton, CT resident Michael Gramegna.
Police say the search warrant was issued after Gramegna reportedly neglected to turn in 21 firearms that were registered to his name following a recent arrest due to the violation of a protective order. Apparently, the Bolton, CT man was mandated to surrender the guns as a condition of his release, but as of Thursday, still had not done so.
As authorities searched the 30-plus-acre property on Shoddy Mill Road in Bolton and an undisclosed off-site location, they reportedly turned up the following:
- 17 firearms in total, one of which was allegedly stolen
- A Bauer .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol with a magazine holding four .25 caliber rounds.
- A Ruger magazine with ammunition
- A black magazine and box of Remington ammunition
- 250 12-Gauge Herter’s shotgun shells
- 59 .22 caliber ammunition rounds
- One large caliber ammunition round with belt links suspected to be .50 caliber.
Police say they will continue their search and seizure efforts in the days to come and that several of the firearms seized thus far have not been registered.
Connecticut State Police have now obtained an arrest warrant for Michael Gramegna, but have been unable to locate him. If anyone has information as to his whereabouts, they are encouraged to call Troop K at 860-465-6500. Police ask that any citizens who happens to spot Gramegna, call 911.
