Just in time for your holiday weekend traveling on Sunday, snowfall is very likely in our local area.

According to the National Weather Service, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued as a slow-moving low pressure system is expected to bring snow and a wintry mix that is predicted to begin on Sunday, December 1, and last through Monday evening.

The NWS says there is potential for several inches of snowfall, which can significantly impact travel plans, as confidence increases in the likelihood of the storm.

The forecast shows that snow is predicted to begin mainly after 9:00 AM, with high temperatures near 34 degrees. Accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible during the day. Then, as we head into Sunday evening, a wintry mix could make things nasty with snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 9:00 PM.

Monday's forecast appears to be more of the same, with rain, snow and sleet throughout the day and a high near 36 degrees. The wintry mix is likely to switch over to all snow as Monday night progresses.

We'll continue to keep you posted as more information about the forecast rolls in.
