UPDATE - 2:15 PM: We've received word from multiple employees of Western Connecticut State University that a campus-wide email has been issued that states the person who was reportedly carrying a gun was in fact carrying a microphone stand.

UPDATE - 2:10 PM: According to a tweet from Mayor Mark Boughton and a voicemail from the Danbury Superintendent of Schools, the WCSU campus is safe and the lock down has been lifted at all of the area schools. Dismissal will be at the normal times.

All Danbury schools have been locked down following a report that a man had a gun at Western Connecticut State University.

WTNH reports that the midtown campus has been evacuated and a "shelter in place" has been activate after a woman claimed to have seen a man with a rifle walk into White Hall.

Police say that an individual is in custody, but no weapon has been found and no shots have been fired. Connecticut State Police confirm that there is no active shooter.

Parents of elementary school students have reported that other Danbury schools have been placed on lock down until further notice, but are reported safe.

NBC Connecticut reports that according to WCSU officials, the person in custody does not have a weapon and does not match the description of the man with the rifle that was originally reported.

This is a developing story that we'll continue to update as information rolls in.
