A Southbury man was arrested after police say he barricaded himself inside of his home, which allegedly contained several firearms.

According to a press release from the Connecticut State Police, 38-year-old Joseph Michael Stotz of Southbury has been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer following the incident that occurred at Stotz's home on Purchase Brook Road throughout the overnight hours and well into the afternoon on Monday (May 21).

As previously reported, Connecticut State Troopers and Southbury Officers responded to the residence on Purchase Brook Road after the report of a domestic disturbance at around 2:00 AM Monday (May 21). When troopers arrived, they initially made contact with Stotz, but he refused to leave the home, barricading himself inside.

Police closed the roads surrounding the home and called in the State Police Tactical Unit, as they were unsure how armed Stotz was at the time.

After allegedly striking one of the arresting officer, Joseph Stotz was taken into custody at around 4:00 PM Monday afternoon, following the 14-hour standoff.

During the arrest, officers say they seized several guns from the Purchase Brook Rd. residence, the number of which has not yet been disclosed.

Joseph Michael Stotz is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court today (May 22).
