Police say that a local man awoke Monday morning (October 28) to find an unwanted house guest in his home.

According to the Newtown Police Department, police responded to a residence on Walker Hill Road this morning at around 5:15 AM following a disturbing call from a homeowner.

The Newtown man told police that some unknown person, who's only been described as wearing a hoodie and jeans, apparently forced their way into his home by pushing a window in. When the man awoke and confronted the intruder, the suspect reportedly ran away on foot.

As detectives and evidence technicians were called in to process the scene, both the Newtown PD's K-9 and drone units searched the wooded areas around the Walker Hill Rd. residence. Police say that investigators have also bee in contact with the surrounding neighbors.

“These type of incidents are extremely rare in Newtown and can be extremely unnerving to area residents," said Newtown Police Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde. "But I can promise all resources will be focused on identifying a suspect. Police will also be directing high visibility patrols in this neighborhood.”
