UPDATE: One one person is dead and one is in critical condition following a police-involved shooting in Danbury, CT.

According to a series of social posts from the city's mayor Mark Boughton, the Danbury PD was on hand at the scene of a disturbance that was reported at a senior apartment complex around 9:30 PM on Saturday (December 29).

The CT State Police have now reported that the incident took place at Glen Apartments, which is located at 25 Memorial Drive in Danbury. When officers from the DPD arrived at the senior assisted living complex on Glen Hill Rd. after a call that an unwanted person was on the premises, a man reportedly brandished a knife and and at that point, an officer attempted to use his taser, but that did not stop him. Then, a second officer fired his duty pistol, striking the knife-wielding man at least once. During the confrontation, a female tenant, who is also a relative of the man with the knife, also suffered a gunshot wound.

Both people struck with bullets were rushed to Danbury Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman remains in stable but critical condition.

The Major Crime unit of the Connecticut State Police is continuing its investigation of the shootings, and we'll be sure to keep you updated.
