Norwalk Revolution Win Babe Ruth World Series

They came, they saw, they conquered.

Last Friday the Norwalk Revolution went into the last game of their season with one goal; become the champions. They achieved that goal through an excellent performance all around, but starting pitcher Vance Ward really stood out that day. Early on, Norwalk gathered four runs- one being scored by Ward who tripled to start the contest.  Ward only allowed two runs across the seven innings, not even giving up a single hit until the fifth. That's when Bismark were able to grab two runs of their own- but it was all they would be able to gather for the day. Ward started cooking with gas after this, saying in an interview with The Hour after that he "was able to calm down"... "trusted (his) mechanics and the defense."

It was all over for Bismark after that. In the sixth inning the home team went down 1-2-3 in just nine pitches, and in the seventh inning Ward toed the rubber for the last time- brimming with confidence. He managed to quickly retire the side, striking out the last batter on an inside fastball. Ward won both Player of the Game and the tournament's Most Outstanding Player: he threw a total of 16 innings, picked up two wins and a save, allowed a total of six hits with two earned runs- all while striking out 19 batters and having a total ERA of .875.
