Danbury Police report that a 25-year-old man who was arrested yesterday on several drug charges was conducting drug trafficking while caring for a toddler.

The Special Investigations Division and Patrol were watching Ryan Santos of New Milford for several weeks and obtained a search and seizure warrant after he allegedy displayed "activity consistent with drug trafficking". Police followed Santos and took him into custody while he appeared to be involved in a drug transaction. Police say that a search of Santos' vehicle revealed heroin which was packaged for sale, a large amount of cash and drug paraphenalia. But, police say that one more very important discovery was made during this search. They found a 20-month-old child in a child safety seat in the back seat of the vehicle. Police arrested Santos, towed the car and the child was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Santos is currently being held for $20,000 bond for the following charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of a controlled substance whith intent to sell
  • Possesion of drug paraphenalia
  • Risk of injury to a child
