Get ready, drivers, for more delays and detours all this week in Newtown.

If you travel on I-84 and use the exit 10 westbound on or off ramps after 10:00 PM in Newtown, you'd better find another way to get to work and get home.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled temporary closures of the Exit 10 on and off-ramps on I-84 westbound in Newtown. The closure will begin on Monday, October 7, 2019, at 10:00 PM, and be completed on Friday October 11, 2019, at 5:00 AM. The closures and detours are necessary to facilitate construction/safety improvement activities.

So how are you going to get to and from if you use this westbound on and off ramp? The Connecticut DOT has set up detours that will be in effect all this week:

If you normally use the Westbound Exit 10 off-ramp: Then take Exit 9 and follow signs to Route 25. Then take Route 6 and from there, you can follow the the detour route.

If you use the Westbound Exit 10 on-ramp, then follow the detour signs to Route 6. Then take that to Route 25 and proceed onto I-84 westbound from there.

Here's another I-84 alert issued by the Connecticut Department of Transportation for this week as well:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime joint & crack sealing operation will be performed on I-84 westbound, in Waterbury and Middlebury, Tuesday, October 6, through Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Work hours will be 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
