UPDATE: As of 3:30 PM on Friday, July 17, one lane of traffic in the area of the incident has been reopened.


 

An intense situation has reportedly shut down a busy section of Interstate 84 in Danbury on Friday.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, both west bound lanes on I-84 between exit 5 and exit 6 in Danbury are currently closed as the result of a large tractor trailer that caught fire after rolling over in its side. The DOT says the east bound side of the highway is currently down to one lane.

The Connecticut State Police have reported that while the medical condition of the driver is currently unknown, he or she made it out of the burning tractor trailer and is being treated by emergency personnel.

Motorists headed in either direction along Interstate 84 can of course expect delays, and are advised to use caution as they approach the area of the crash.
