A Connecticut community came together Wednesday night to mourn the loss of 7-month-old Aaden Moreno at a vigil held by the City of Middletown that was attended by several public officials and residents, including Gov. Dannel Malloy.

Authorities charged the infant’s father Tony Moreno, 21, of Middletown on Wednesday with the child’s murder. ABC News is reporting today that Moreno admitted to throwing the infant off of the Arrigoni Bridge and into the Connecticut River before jumping off the bridge himself to commit suicide.

The police investigation has revealed that Moreno sent the baby's 19-year-old mother a succession of angry text messages before he jumped from the bridge around midnight on Sunday, including, "Enjoy your new life without us," and "He's dead."

The mother did request a restraining order against Moreno, which was denied by a  judge.

Moreno's mother called 911 after reporting that her son called her and threatened to jump from the bridge, ABC News reports. When officers arrived, they saw Moreno jump and an empty baby stroller.

Police reports say that Moreno originally refused to speak with detectives, but then confessed on Monday after an officer said they needed help finding the child to give him a proper funeral.
