Danbury’s Main Street, Route 53 To Be Renamed This Weekend
It's a weekend to honor our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, so it's only fitting that this Sunday Danbury's Main Street will renamed to pay tribute to those who served and never returned.
State Senator Mike McLachlan, who represents the 24th district communities of Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, and Sherman will be joined by local elected leaders, and members of various Danbury veterans' organizations, and will all gather at the Danbury War Memorial Sunday at 3 pm for the official re-naming ceremony.
The public is also invited to attend to show support for all our fallen military heroes, as well as recognizing those who have and are still serving the country.
Senator McLachlan commented on the dedication to patch.com, explaining why the street will receive this special re-naming:
We have a very dynamic veterans' community in Danbury, I believe it is a fitting tribute to dedicate our Main Street in recognition of our veterans' many contributions to our country during their time in the military, as well as their continued service to the community when they returned home. The official naming of the Danbury Veterans Memorial Highways during this Memorial Day Weekend also honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom, we must never forget that our liberties have been paid for by the blood of mostly young men and women, many who were barely adults when they took the pledge to protect us.
