You can't say they didn't warn you.

April was Distracted Driving Month, and the Brookfield Police Department had warned motorists that they would be cracking down on distracted drivers. It seems every day I still see someone cruising along while texting away. Don't do it in Brookfield though, because their message is "they're gonna get ya." (Actually, if you still do it, it's a good idea to cut it out no matter where you're going.) The Brookfield PD announced their results today and their increased efforts resulted in:

• 178 infractions to motorists who were using their cell phone
• 38 warnings
• 1 in custody arrest on a variety of motor vehicle related charges
•1 misdemeanor summons for using their cell phone, operating under suspension and for failure to have insurance.

The Police Department added,

Thank you to those who drive responsibly on a daily basis, we’re glad to not have met you!
