I thought this was something I'd see in Maine, or at least somewhere a little more remote than Torrington, CT; a moose on the loose strolling the streets.

It's been said that life can be wild in Connecticut, but the wild life is super impressive. Justin Klumpp and his family from Torrington happened to catch the moose on video yesterday. According to the Fox 61 Facebook page comments, it was seen in Harwinton crossing Route 4, then moving on to Breezy Hill. Someone also said they saw this moose on Fredrick Street, and then it continued on from there:

It's actually a pretty special thing to see a moose, because they're fairly uncommon in the United States. According to Wikipedia:

Currently, most moose are found in Canada, Alaska, New England (with Maine having the most of the lower 48 states), Fennoscandia, Baltic states and Russia.

They don't roam in herds, so even though they appear lost, they often travel alone like this, and only eat plants. They consume 50 to 60 pounds of plants a day, Moose Facts reports. Keep your eyes out, there could be one near your hood too!
