'Tis the season for giving, and if you're in a position to help out those less fortunate, there are plenty of opportunities for you to pay it forward.

Our friends at Amelia Cabinet Company in Litchfield reached out to let us know about their third annual "Toys for Teens" toy drive, which takes place December 17 and 18 from 10 AM- 4 PM on the Litchfield green. All toys will benefit the patients at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.

Dave Vincenzi of Amelia Cabinet Company told me that the drive was started to honor the memory of his sister Amelia, who was a longtime patient at CCMC. She suffered from a rare autoimmune disorder called CVID. She underwent a bone marrow transplant with marrow from Dave in the hope of curing her condition, but unfortunately she lost her battle. Through it all, Dave told me that

She had a desire to make the lives of those around her rich with happiness, comfort, and so much more. In her memory we (the Vincenzi family) have embraced what's she's taught us and help to create the difference in the world she sought to make.

If you can't make it that weekend, toys can also be dropped off at the Amelia Cabinet Company showroom at 174 West Street in Litchfield anytime through December 20th.
