State Troopers Block Protesters From Crossing Tappan Zee Bridge

New York State Troopers formed a wall of police when Black Women's March protesters attempted to cross the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

On Saturday, according to abcyny.com, police told around 100 protesters that they would not be allowed to march across the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. The Black Women's March was organized to bring attention to the issues facing black women in suburban and rural New York communities.

The line of State Troopers that blocked their entryway to the bridge told the marchers they would be met with mass arrests if they attempted to cross. The reasons they were not allowed on the 3 mile Mario M. Cuomo Bridge was they had not obtained the proper permits, and the most important reason of all, it was unsafe because the walkways and bike paths were not open.

The rally organized in a parking lot in Tarrytown near the bridge. When told they would not be allowed access to the bridge, they peacefully turned around and finished their protest walk that turned into a traffic nightmare for hundreds of motorists.
