Two local men have been arrested and charged with drug possession and DUI following a traffic stop on I-84 in Brewster.

According to a report from the New York State Police, Troopers pulled over 35-year-old Noval Baez of Danbury for a traffic violation at about 2:15 AM on Saturday (December 9) when they say they smelled the strong odor of alcohol. In addition to that, Troopers say that they noticed that the passenger, 49-year-old Scott Craigue of Brookfield, appeared to have cocaine residue on his nose, lap, and seat.

A search of the vehicle turned up over nine grams of cocaine powder, according to police.

On top of the drug charges, Scott Craigue allegedly threatened to kick the arresting State Troopers "in the head" and refused to exit the patrol vehicle.

Noval Baez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and DWI, while Scott Craigue was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and obstruction of governmental administration.

They were both arraigned before the Town of Southeast Court and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
