It's time to cast an eye to the sky in New Milford as the John J. McCarthy Observatory throws a 'Star Party' on the second Saturday of every month. Their Saturday Stars program rolls out on July 14.

According to their web site, mccarthyobservatory.org, each month's "Star Party" will have a different theme. On Saturday, July 14 from 8 to 10 pm, the theme will be "The Outter Solar System — Winter is Everywhere".

Admission is free and weather permitting, a variety of telescopes will be available for public viewing. If you're a new telescope user or if you have your own, you can join them in the "newbie help corner," where their experts can help you get the most out of your viewing experience.

The Observatory is located on the grounds of New Milford High School on Rte. 7 in New Milford. You can enter the high school grounds from Larson Rd., then drive to the southwest corner and park in the lot in front of the observatory.
