With the news this week that Charter Oak Brewing will be coming to Danbury in early 2018, the Brewing Company market just got a little more crowded.

Charter Oak Brewing is opening a Brewery and Tap Room at 39 Shelter Rock Road in Danbury.

Joe Cavo, who is the Danbury Common Council President, told us exclusively:

The zoning process at 39 Shelter Rock Road is complete. The only thing they need right now are building permits. From what I understand, the tap room will be open afternoons and evenings, Thursday through Sunday. Anytime anybody decides to open their business in Danbury, we are thrilled.

According to newstimes.com, Charter Oak Brewing was founded in April 2011 in New Canaan, and introduced its first beer about a year later. Charter Oak is a micro-brewery and they brew their beer in cases of 250 to 280. Their selections include India pale ale, extra special bitter, brown ale, pale ale, porter, stout, kolsh and dubbel.

You can find their bottles in liquor stores all over Connecticut. The beer is also featured on tap at several bars and restaurants in the state.

By the time Charter Oaks Brewing opens in early 2018, there will be new breweries in several other Greater Danbury towns. The Redding Beer Co. is opening around Oct. 14 in Georgetown, Nod Hill Brewing will have their grand opening this week in Ridgefield, Broken Symmetry Gastro Brewery arrives in Bethel soon, and a few breweries are expected to open in New Milford.
