This past Saturday, Mrs. Large and I took the short trip up I-91 and stopped into Springfield, Massachusetts. The big draw in Springfield is the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. That museum now has some major competition. Located right in the heart of downtown Springfield is the newly opened The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum.

The Seuss Museum is one of 5 museums that are steps away from each other. In the central Quad, sits the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, and it's beautiful. Take a look at some photos that I took-

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield in 1904, and his hometown has erected fitting tributes to one of it's most famous residents. Seuss' work has sold over 600 million copies. generation after generation of children, and adults, have been entertained by The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, How The Grinch Stole Christmas!, and my personal favorite Green Eggs and Ham, among many others.

Springfield is about an hour and a half from the greater Danbury area, a little over an hour from Waterbury. It's well worth the trip for a great day out with the family. The Naismith Basketball HOF is also right off of I-91 in downtown, as is The Big E, which starts up in about a month. Start planning your weekend away now.
