40 immigration offenders with criminal backgrounds were arrested in a three-day New England sweep.

According to a report at nbcboston.com, ICE agents were kept busy for three days from September 20 to September 22 and New England was the target. From New Hampshire to Rhode Island, agents arrested 40 immigration violators from the countries of Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Portugal, Ireland, Brazil, Jamaica, Cuba, and Ecuador.

In Connecticut, arrests were made in Bridgeport, Bristol, Danbury, Hartford, and Waterbury. According to ICE officials, most of the individuals picked up had criminal histories that included arrests for drugs, larcenies, and weapons possessions. Todd Lyons is an ICE official who told nbcboston.com:

This operation has removed many dangerous individuals from the community and will help contribute to the safety and security throughout the entire region.
