You can start to feel the holiday vibe in the air already. Here's another adventure to put on your things to do list.

To me there is nothing quite as awe inspiring for the holidays then to see homes all festively decked out. I've taken this tour of the Governor's residence in Connecticut many times over the years to kick off the holiday season, and it never gets old.

The Governor's Residence in Hartford is being opened up to the public once again for the holidays. Governor Dannel P. Malloy and First Lady Cathy Malloy are inviting Connecticut residents to attend the annual holiday open house of the Governor’s Residence, located at 990 Prospect Avenue in Hartford.

In a press release from ct.gov Governor Malloy announced:

This is a longstanding Connecticut tradition, and Cathy and I are happy once again to bring the residents of our state together to join in the holiday spirit. Not only does this give us an opportunity to share own family’s personal collection of Christmas decorations, but a number of Connecticut growers and small businesses have generously donated their own seasonal agricultural decorations for us to share. We look forward to having everyone visit

This year’s holiday open house, which is free to attend, will be held:

Friday, December 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, December 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, December 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There is also live entertainment each day. Again, while there is no cost to get in and tickets are not needed, I'd like you to know that donations will be gratefully accepted for Operation E.L.F., which is an annual undertaking by the Connecticut Military Department that helps out military families not only during the holidays but year round.

Let the season of joy and wonder begin!
