Famous Covered Bridge in Connecticut Closed for $1.4 Million of W

It gets even better especially in the fall with our amazing foliage, farms, lakes, rivers and our unique covered bridges. They make for super romantic backdrops for pictures. There’s one that's a favorite of the Travel Channel and has even been featured in a Hollywood film in Sharon, Connecticut.

The Associated Press reports that the famed, historic, West Cornwall Covered Bridge in Sharon is getting an overhaul costing $1.4 million. It will be closed for about four weeks between September 4^th through October 2nd.

The Connecticut State Department of Transportation will detour traffic, as work will be done over four weeks time. The bridge's construction dates back to 1864. The wooden bridge crosses the Housatonic River, at Routes 7 and 28. This bridge is an icon for locals and travelers alike. It was featured in the film The Valley of the Dolls released back in 1967.
