Utility crews in Danbury are scrambling to restore power lines and a utility pole today (July 30) after an accident on Plumtrees Rd.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, officers, firefighters, and city EMS personnel responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries at about 10:10 AM on Monday.

Reportedly, a dump truck had its dump bed extended as its driver was pulling out of a local business on Plumtrees Rd, which took out some power lines that were over the roadway. As the truck hit the power lines, the a utility pole broke causing the lines to come down and the truck to roll over onto the drivers side.

The driver of the truck was transported to Danbury hospital to treat his injuries, while a passenger was cleared by EMS at the scene.

The utility crews are still working to restore the pole and power lines, so police advise residents to expect delays for an extended period of time and to avoid the area altogether if possible.
