Believe it or not, if you grew up in Danbury, you're less likely to get married than if you grew up in other parts of the country.

According to the New York Times, the data analyzes a child’s odds of being married by the age of 26. Analysts also found similar trends when these children turned 30. What the data does suggest is that if you grow up in a liberal part of the country, it makes you about 10 percentage points less likely to get married in relation to the rest of the country. However, growing up in a conservative part of America, increases your likelihood of getting married. So here's the breakdown for the local area:

  • If you grew up in Danbury, you are 8 percentage points less likely to be married by the age of 26.
  • If you grew up in Putnam County you are 7 percentage points less likely to be married by the age of 26.
  • If you grew up in Dutchess County you are 6 percentage points less likely to be married by the age of 26.
  • If you grew up in Litchfield County you are 5 percentage points less likely to be married by the age of 26.
  • And if you grew up in Rockland County you are only 1 percentage point less likely to be married by the age of 26.
  • For the state overall, growing up in Connecticut makes you 6.6 percentage points less likely to get married by the age of 26.
