Did you know that some of the first people to be hired by movie production companies are location scouts? It's a fact that these location scouts love the backdrop of Connecticut.

EVERYBODY knows that Mystic Pizza is usually what comes to mind when talking about the Nutmeg State's claim to fame in the film world. But you might be surprised that the following movies were actually filmed in Connecticut.

1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - The chase scene through Marshall College was actually Yale University in New Haven.

2. The Stepford Wives - The '78 and '04 versions were both shot in different Connecticut locations like Redding, Westport, New Caanan, Darien, and Norwalk.

3. Die Hard With a Vengeance - The highway shots were not shot in NYC, but on the Merritt Parkway.

4. The Hunt for Red October - Even though the producers filmed scenes as far away as Alaska, the main submarine scenes were shot at the U.S. Naval Base in Groton.

5. Mr. Deeds - Mr. Deeds, starring Adam Sandler, was set in a small town in New Hampshire, but in reality, most of the movie was filmed in New Milford. During the filming of Mr. Deeds, Omelette and I were on the road broadcasting our show live from the Bank Street Coffeehouse. Knowing that Sandler was a big rock n'roll fan, while we were on the air, we invited Adam to stop by and hang with us for a few minutes. During our last segment at around 9:45. a black SUV pulls up in front of the coffeehouse and in walks Adam Sandler who spent around 20 minutes with us on the air! It was awesome!
