The holidays are upon us once again. With all of the so-called hustle and bustle of the season, they will be here and gone before we know it. For some, 6 months can pass in the blink of an eye. But for someone like Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Moon and his family, it can seem like forever.

For the past 32 years, Moon has been serving our country in the United States Army. WTIC/CNN reports that he is currently stationed in Kuwait and hasn't seen his family since April. Moon wasn't due to come home until Christmastime. However, he was assigned temporary duty with a three day break and couldn't wait until December to see his family.

With Veteran's Day approaching and the rest of the holidays following closely behind, he wanted to go one step further and not only make it something special for his little girl, he wanted to show the students what it means to have a family member in the family. So, he and his wife cooked up a plan with Jack Jackter Intermediate in Colchester, CN and planned a special assembly in the gymnasium.

As Principal Elise Butson talked to the students who were sitting on the bleachers in the gym, the butterflies were already doing a tapdance in the Lieutenant and his wife's stomachs as they waited in the wings.

Carrying a red rose, he was led into the gym and his daughter quickly saw her daddy. She ran down the bleachers and jumped into his arms. She gripped him tight and did not want to let go. Who can blame her? You can see the heartwarming video below:
