The shopping mall on Mill Plain Road was bustling with lunchtime patrons as firefighters were rushing to the parking lot by Trader Joes in Danbury.

According to a press release from the Danbury Fire Department, at about 12:35 pm on Saturday (September 1) fire units were dispatched for a car that was in flames.

The press release goes on to say that when crews arrived on the scene, they found a van that was engulfed in a high volume of flames on the side of the Trader Joe's building.

Thankfully, firefighters were able to get the fire under control and the vehicle was extinguished very quickly. The fire was spreading quickly and damaged several vehicles that were parked close to the van. There is no word yet on why the van caught fire in the first place and The Danbury Fire Marshals Office was called in to examine the cause.
