The number of people that have fallen ill after salads from McDonald's restaurants in several states has increased. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that there are 436 confirmed cases of Cyclospora from 15 states. That number could rise since it takes up to 6 weeks from when someone becomes ill and the illness is recorded.

One note to keep in mind that is that even though there was one case from Connecticut, that person was in Illinois when they consumed the tainted food. Also, the cases from Tennessee and Virginia were also from eating at an Illinois McDonald's and the Florida resident became ill from eating food from a McDonald's in Kentucky.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define Cyclospora as a microscopic one cell parasite which causes an infection in the small intestine. The infection can last anywhere from a few days to more than a month. Intestinal symptoms and fatigue are symptoms. Relapse can be common.
