Bluefish baseball out, gaming tables in? What's up for the Park City?

Baseball fans said goodbye to the Bridgeport Bluefish on Sunday Sept. 17 at their final game at Harbor Yard. The website for the team, bridgeportbluefish.com, announced that they have been notified that the City of Bridgeport will pursue a proposal to turn The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, the team's home since 1998, into an amphitheater intended for concerts.

Now there's more news for Connecticut's largest city. In a story from nbcconnecticut.com, MGM Resorts International is announcing plans to develop a casino in the Park City. While not due to occupy the ballpark's space, the MGM Bridgeport, would be located at the ever growing Steelpointe Harbor in the city.
MGM company officials say the property will bring jobs and more money to Bridgeport, and according to the article, the project be funded through private investment.

MGM has long been angling to open another casino in Connecticut. They are currently under construction with one in Springfield, Mass.

We all pretty much knew that another facility was going to wind up in our state, and landing in Bridgeport is no big surprise to me.
