A huge heartfelt thanks to the men and women who work tirelessly to keep us safe. Welcome home.

Home is where the heart is. But often, you need to keep home in your heart and take solace in the great memories when you find yourself far far away. I would imagine that is often the mind set of people in any branch of the military.

As you were celebrating the 4th of July and our country's independence, there was a fantastic homecoming for some of the men and women of the Connecticut Air National Guard.

In a story from nbcconnecticut.com, almost 30 members of the Connecticut Air National Guard are back home after a long deployment.

The members of the 103rd Airlift Wing, who were deployed in Southwest Asia since February, were honored with a ceremony when they arrived home yesterday. Any day they return is special indeed, but even sweeter I think, on the 4th of July. Dozens of other members of the unit are still deployed overseas, but will be returning home throughout the summer.

The words "thank you for your service" just never seem enough, but the smile you get in return from a service member when you say them is priceless.
