During my vacation in Wyoming recently, a group of us were in a small town called "Ten Sleep" on the edge of the "Big Horn National Forest." We stopped for a quick lunch at the "Crazy Woman Cafe" right on Rt. 16, the main drag.

Our server, Nell, who was also the owner had a pleasant outgoing personality and at the end of our meal, which was delicious I might add, I jokingly told her she should move to Connecticut and start up a restaurant just like this one.

Without any hesitation she replied, "I spent a couple of weeks in your state about 10 years ago, and as far as I'm concerned, you can have it! Your taxes are outrageous! Does anyone care for desert?"

What can I say, she's absolutely right!

Connecticut comes in at #3 behind New Jersey and New York while Wyoming is near the bottom and is considered to be one of the most affordable states in the nation.

Let me illustrate. If you purchase a home in Wyoming for $184,000, your property tax is only $1,058 or .57% where as in Connecticut, your property tax on that same home is $4,612 or 2.51% which is a difference of $3,554 per year!

Wyoming has no state income tax. Connecticut's income tax is around 6.7%. Don't get me wrong, I love New England and Connecticut.

I love my job and my friends and family are here, not to mention my beloved Candlewood Lake, but honestly, it's becoming more and more unaffordable due to the cost of living in this state.

I guess, I'll just have to suck it up and find a part time job. Does anyone need a chubby middle aged guy with a pleasant radio voice who plays guitar and sings and is mildly funny? If so, then I'm your guy!
