After searching for several days, authorities pulled 7-month-old Aaden Moreno’s body from the Connecticut River in East Haddam Tuesday night and have charged the infant’s father with murder.

NBC Connecticut reports that Tony Moreno ,21, of Middletown is accused of throwing his son off of the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown and into the Connecticut River on Sunday night before attempting to jump off the bridge to commit suicide.

Moreno has been charged with murder and murder with special cirumstances and is being held on a $2 million bond.

Police said that they heard a baby crying in the background when Moreno called 911 and threatened suicide. Though the baby wasn’t on the scene when police arrived just before Moreno jumped, a stroller was found nearby, according to NBC Connecticut.

Moreno was pulled from the water by the Middletown Fire Department, but the child’s body wasn’t found until two days later by passerby in a canoe.

The child’s mother request a restraining order against Moreno on June 29 citing that “Moreno told her he could make her or her child disappear at any time,” NBC Connecticut reports. It is unclear why the restraining order was denied.

The City of Middletown is hosting a vigil for Aaden at 6 p.m. on the south green in Middletown on Wednesday, according to the mayor's Twitter account.
