Bridgeport Ranked Worst Vacation Spot In U.S.

Ahhh, New England. Vacation mecca and home to places like Misquamicut, Newport, Cape Cod and Maine. People flock from all over the country for a good old New England vacation. However, one place that won't be on any must-see list is Bridgeport. The Park City was just named #1 on Wallethub.com's list of the worst cities to visit this Summer.

The Wallethub website put the list together based on travel costs, weather, local costs and activites. The Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk metro came in dead last out of 80 areas of the country. New Haven came in next-to-last.

For the record, Vegas came in as the best travel destination. It's a dry heat.

I'm going to defend Coastal CT for a few minutes. There are actually plenty of things to do. You could go to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard, You could take the kids to the Beardsley Zoo. Grab a bite to eat and see a band at Captain's Cove. Check out a great jam band at the BRYAC, or eat at any of the great restaurants in the Black Rock section of town.

Heading down the coast, you could hang in Sono's many restaurants or bars, go to the Maritime Aquarium, and hit Stamford for a beer at the Half Full brewery before heading downtown for an Alive at 5 concert. Take that. Vegas!
