Authorities say Katonah resident and billionaire philanthropist, George Soros, may have been targeted by an individual who sent a suspicious package to his mailbox.

According to authorities cited in the New York Daily News, it was reported that a worker found the device and contacted the Bedford police. According to the New York Times, who first reported about this, the package was discovered at around 3:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon (October 22)

The Soros Fund Management LLC is on Cantitoe Street in the Katonah section of Bedford in Westchester County, and police reportedly “proactively detonated” the package after the employee placed it in a remote area of the woods.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is now investigating the incident. Authorities have stated that there is no known immediate threat and the area is currently safe. George Soros is 88-years-old, and is often said to be the focus of multiple right-wing conspiracy theories.
