What seems to have become the norm around here recently, another local Danbury business has closed with very little notice.

With a few signs to alert their customers in their service center window, Mohawk Tire and Auto Center in the Berkshire Shopping Center in Danbury has closed their doors after 39 years of serving the area.

According to Bill Larusso, owner of Mohawk Tire and Mohawk West in Danbury, June 16th was the last day of operation for their Berkshire Shopping Center location. He commented on the business decision to close one of their two locations:

After 39 years it was a hard decision, but it had to be done. Sometimes doing the right thing is not easy, we have no choice, but now we can focus all our attention on our other location, Mohawk West at 39 Mill Plain Road in Danbury. We invite all our loyal customers to come to that location for the quality service that they have received from us since 1979.

It seems that every week we're reporting on another local business closing suddenly, however in this case, there's still a Mohawk Service facility for new and longtime customers.
