Following a long undercover investigation, a local heroin dealer is behind bars, police say.

Following an investigation into drug sales in Putnam County, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested 27-year-old Kurian C. Hamilton of Cold Spring. He was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, all felonies, two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, an investigator assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit developed information that Hamilton was selling heroin in the county.

On several occasions, Hamilton sold heroin to an undercover investigator, police say.

A search warrant of his home allegedly yielded a large amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia consisting of scales and materials commonly used in the packaging of narcotics.

Hamilton was remanded to Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
